Kim Welsh, Owner/Head Surf Instructor

Kim has been surfing since 1995 and has dedicated her life to surfing. She began teaching friends to surf in 2000 and found that being able to share the gift of surfing so gratifying she has made surfing her business.

"Surfing has become such a major force in my life. I've changed the way I think about everything: work, play, travel. I am so grateful to be able to go in the water as much as I do. I have the most fantastic job in the world!"

Surf trips are her favorite way of spending time with friends and loved ones. Kim has traveled extensively and taught surfing in Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, California, Hawaii and Bali. Catching waves in tropical locations and seeing her students stand-up on their boards for the first time is what continues to inspire Kim to teach surfing. 

Kim’s approach to surfing combines humor, fitness and respect for the ocean. Kim loves to teach people how to surf and help anyone who just wants to become a better surfer.

Denise Kaufman, Professional Yoga Instructor

OceanaSurf believes that yoga is a perfect compliment to surfing adding more flexibility, fluidity, strength and focus.

We are very fortunate to have Denise Kaufman as part of our staff at OceanaSurf. Denise has been a surfing yogini and musician for over 30 years.
Denise will help each student develop a individualized yoga practice with regard to surfing including stetching before and after surf sessions.
She can be found teaching yoga privately and at Sacred Movement in Santa Monica. Denise's love of the ocean, yoga and travel helps to ensure OceanaSurf's commitment to our surf students by providing experienced knowledgeable staff.

Fun Fact: Denise's band THE ACE OF CUPS opened up for Jimi Hendrix in San Francisco.

Denise can also be seen as Madonna's yoga instructor on VH1's "Behind the Music" and has worked with a long list of other celebrities including: Ben Stiller, Sting, Quincy Jones, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Jane Fonda and Ted Turner.
